ABOUT: JUNIOR LOIOLA
CINEGRAPHER specialized in Steadicam, Camera, Cranes with electronic head and Gimbals in general operation.
With a childhood and youth spent in production companies and on film sets alongside his father, Wellington, the Chief Electrician, Junior Loiola began his professional career in the audiovisual industry in 1993, taking on various roles, primarily in Electric Assistance until 1998.
Since January 1999, he has been working in the camera department, his true passion, as a Video Assist Operator and also as a broadcasting camera assistant. He started his professional journey as a Steadicam Operator in 2001 after attending a workshop sponsored by Sindcine in São Paulo, led by Daniel Stilling, a Brazilian Steadicam Operator based in Florida, USA. Alongside his Steadicam experience, he gained knowledge as a Camera Operator in casting tests, making-ofs, live events and concerts, as well as serving as 2nd Assistant Camera/Loader on commercials, documentaries, feature films, and shorts, including foreign productions like The Expendables and Blindness, among others; in addition to DVDs and music videos for various artists. Highly focused on his purpose, in 2007 he made what he considers the most important decision of his career: to establish himself as a Steadicam Operator. In 2010, he decided to invest in his education and attended a specialization workshop in Philadelphia, USA, organized by the SOA (Steadicam Operators Association Inc.), where he has been a member ever since, learning from the master and inventor of the Steadicam, Mr. Garrett Brown, and a team of renowned operators. Always striving for improvement, he conducted his first Steadicam Operator workshop at the Inspiratorium School of Cinema and Arts in São Paulo in 2015, in addition to numerous individual training sessions and consultations for operators who had completed other courses and needed to refresh their skills. He also participated in cinematography workshops as a scholarship camera assistant, learning from professors such as Waldemar Lima, Rodolfo Sanchez, ABC, Carlos Ebert, ABC, and Alziro Barbosa, ABC. In 2017, he had the opportunity to be a Camera Operator in a Masterclass with the ASC (American Society of Cinematographers), learning from top directors of photography like Dan Mindel ASC, BSC, SASC, and Bill Bennett, ASC, organized by ARRI Brazil.
Today, based in Quito, Ecuador, and São Paulo, Brazil, he continues to learn and share the knowledge he has acquired over his many years of experience in the audiovisual industry, had conducted a Workshop in Quito, Ecuador too supported by AETC (Asociación Ecuatoriana de los Tecnicos de Cine) in 2022.
